Toyota (Toyota Motor Corporation orトヨタ自動車株式会社 in Japanese), being the world’s largest automobile maker by sales and production, is a well-known Japanese car manufacturer founded in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyota as a spinoff from his father’s company.
The first product created by Kiichiro’s father’s company is the Type A engine in 1934. Later on in 1936, the company created the first passenger car known as Toyota AA. Why AA? Isn’t A is the first alphabet everyone learn? From there on, Kiichiro expands the business to create more and more reliable Toyota cars.

Automobile industry isn’t like clothing industry, it takes decades to build the brand and no mistakes can be made during the manufacturing process. One big mistake could cause many accident happens. There are reasons why Toyota is the largest automobile maker in the world.
- Toyota Logo. The latest Toyota logo was introduced worldwide in 1989. It is a combination of three ovals to form the letter “T” which stands for Toyota. There are two perpendicular ovals overlapping each other inside a larger oval. This represents the mutually beneficial relationship and trust between Toyota and their customers. The larger oval that surrounds both inner ovals represent the “global expansion of Toyota’s technology and unlimited potential for the future.”
- Toyota Sales figure. Do you believe that you can see today everyday when you drive your car out? In first quarter of 2008, Forbes 2000 ranked the company number one in global automobile sales.
- Toyota philosophy. The philosophy of Toyota are simple Respect for People and Continuous Improvement with the major five principles that made Toyota cars a success: Challenge, Kaizen (improvement), Genchi Genbutsu (go and see), Respect, and Teamwork.

Toyota started to build hybrid cars to save the world’s environment as hybrid cars give a better mileage. Among the famous one is the Toyota Camry Hybrid that are widely sell now.

Although there are some recalls happened to Toyota lately (see Toyota recalls 2.3M US vehicles to fix gas pedals), there is nothing will stop Toyota to make even better Toyota cars. Ah! Toyota!
