It was a beautiful warm Saturday in Sardinia, Princess Diana was still enjoying her holiday in Paris. Princess Diana and her companion Dodi Al Fayed (son of Harrods owner, Mohammed Al Fayed) drove to the Al-Fayed private villa. During the day, they wear completely casual and look like tourist.

Later on they had decided to have dinner at the Ritz hotel which belongs to Dodi’s father. The couple wanted to drive their cars to Dodi’s private villa immediately right after the dinner as the press was not supposed to follow. Princess Diana and Dodi have decided to use a special technique to avoid the press where they took an in conspicuous Mercedes 280 instead of the normal Mercedes 600. A chauffeur, Henri Paul drove the car and the bodyguard Trevor Ress-Jones sat in the front seat where Diana and Dodi in the back.
According to media reports, Diana’s car had collided with the pillar at over 190kmh/120mph. However, some media report that the car’s real speed was at about 95-110kmh/70mph. This happened after the car had left the Ritz hotel for a certain amount of time. Some said the accident happened is due to the chauffer attempting to avoid paparazzi at high speed.
The car accident around 12:23a.m on 31 August 1997. Princess Diana was then taken to hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning where surgeons tried to save her life for two hours. Princess Diana was suffered severe head injuries which similar to Beatrice Hsu’s accident. Sadly, Princess Diana died at 4a.m on 31 August 1997 in Paris’ Hospital de la Pitie Sapletriere. The death was announced at 6 a.m. after the surgeons failed to save her life, she was 36.
