Peugeot is an automobile manufacturer with a long history of making cars in Europe. This French automaker was founded in 1896 by Armand Peugeot as Société des Automobiles Peugeot.
Peugoet’s roots started in 1810 when the family started the company as a coffee mill company. Two decades later, they started to manufacture bicycle and as a car manufacturer in 1882. The first Peugeot car, a three-wheel steam-powered car was produced in 1889. However, only four were ever made. Few years later, Peugeot introduced few models like Peugeot Type 12, Type 13, Type 14, Type 16, and Peugeot Type 19 in 1899.
In between 1916 and 1919, Peugeot racked up numerous racing victories including two wins at Indianapolis. In 1975, Peugeot took over Citroen. The joint company became PSA Peugeot Citroen which is now the second largest car manufacturer in Europe, second top selling car brands in France, and one of the top ten car manufacturers in the world.
