The first Mercedes car was crafted in 1901. It was built by Maybach and commissioned by Emil Jellinek who was one of the Daimler’s primary distributors. The first Mercedes-Benz brand name vehicle were produced in 1926, the name Mercedes was ultimately named after Jellinek’s daughter.
In 1928, the company introduced Mercedes-Benz SSK (Super Sport Kurz) which distinct itself from other automaker at that time. The SSK is one of the most significant Mercedes-Benz cars ever made during the 1920s. By 1930s, Mercedes introduced the Mercedes-Benz 770, Mercedes-Benz 500 K, Mercedes-Benz 260 D, Mercedes-Benz 170, and Mercedes-Benz W195. The Mercedes-Benz 260 D is the first diesel production car in the world. Once again the brand has strike something new in automobile industry.
By 1950s, Mercedes-Benz introduced a sports car that has been described as the world’s first supercar, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “Gullwing”. Other than the GUllwing, “Ponton”, “Fintail” models are also unveiled during that time and gained an immediate response from car lovers.
During 1960s, Mercedes-Benz launched the 600 “Grand Mercedes” and paved the brand to be the luxury car maker. The decades also saw the launch of the Mercedes-Benz 220 that patented “crumple zone” body design, which the car able to absorb impact during a crash.
The 1970s we saw the birth of some other significant Mercedes-Benz model such as the S-Class line, Mercedes-Benz W107 350SL, Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9, Mercedes-Benz 500SEL, and Mercedes-Benz 300D.
