When talk about Japanese car everyone will think of Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and some other famous Japanese car manufacturers in automobile market. Japanese cars in automobile market started since 1960s when Japanese automobile makers introduced a bunch of K-cars which also known as Kei cars in Japan. K-car is lightweight cars but it has including passenger cars, vans, and pickup trucks.

One of the main reason K-cars were built in Japan is to avoid high taxes as K-cars are small-size cars fitted with small-size engine less than 600cc. Some K-cars that famous in the 60s are Subaru 360, Suzuki Fronte, Mazda Carol, and many more.

Japanese car makers rapidly moved on and expand their business into international market in 1970s. Japanese car manufacturers started to export their cars to some other country and keep on growing in automobile industry.

In 1980s, Japanese car makers have finally put their foot step into US and world markets. It is believed that Honda Accord (Acura Accord) was the first Japanese car that sold in US market in 1982 (citation needed). From there onwards, Japanese car had expanded world wide and gain a very good reputation in automobile industry because of the quality it delivers.

Today’s Japanese cars are well-known for its durability especially Toyota, Honda, and Nissan. Putting 100,000 miles on the engine hurt nothing to the car as long as it is well maintain. In many countries, there are many Japanese cars running on the road with the mileage more than 100,000 miles on the odometer. With all the quality it delivers, Japan was the largest vehicle manufacturer in the world in 2008.

Japanese cars of the 1970’s play an important role in determining Japanese cars status in today’s automobile industry. In 1973, automobile industry had a big changed due to oil crisis started in October until March 1974. This has given a good chance for Japanese cars to enter U.S market as Japan was well-known for its K-car during that time. The demand for Japanese cars has increased rapidly and until today, we can see a lot of famous Japanese car brand such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Isuzu, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Mitsuoka.
