Year 2009
August 29, 2009 – Dearborn, Michigan – 6.1 Million 2011 Models
Recall/Affected Cars: 6.1 million model year 2011 cars slated for production in 2010.

- Ford Behemoth Hybrid (the gasoline-coal)
- Ford POS
- Ford Bifocal
- Ford Gelding
Reasons for recall: recall the cars and expected to be produced under the company’s flagship Ford brand next year. The recall is intended to address “serious production, concept, engineering and safety flaws that we expect to come to light in the recent future”, according to the spokesman for Ford Motor Company.
This is the first time a top car manufacture hold the recall in advance before any consumers get involve. This will definitely make the brand strength retained well.

June 26, 2008 – Voluntary recall involving speed control deactivation system – 9.6 million vehicles
This is a Ford-initiated voluntary safety recall. It recalls certain vehicles to check the speed control deactivation system.
Recall/Affected Cars: Parts for the Speed Control System recall are available for passenger cars and trucks. Ford is conducting a voluntary safety recall involving speed control deactivation switch systems in 9.6 million vehicles.

Reasons for recall:
1.To install a fused wiring harness into the speed control electrical circuit, or to replace the deactivation system if it is found to be leaking. This is a quick repair, and will be performed on vehicles built between 1992 and 2004.
2.To check the car equipped with speed control, to repair the system in order to address the possibility of a fire.
3.Ford dealers will provide this service to all affected vehicles at no charge to the customers. Owners of all affected vehicles will be notified by mail.
Feb 1, 2008 – Voluntary Safety Recall Involving Incorrect Wiring Harness – 225,000 vehicles
Ford is recalling approximately 225,000 vehicles involving an incorrect wiring harness service part that does not have the fusing protection. Some of these vehicles were already repaired as part of an earlier recall.
Recall/Affected Cars:
The Wiring Harness (4W1Z-14A411-BC) was installed on approximately 225,000 vehicles of the non-compatible models and years listed below.
- 1992-2003 Econoline*
- 1993-1995 Taurus SHO
- 1992-1998 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis
- 1992-1995 Town Car
- 1993 Bronco
- 1993 F-Series *
- 1995-1997 F-Series Stripped Chassis*
Reason for recall:
To install new wiring harness on cars. If the harnesses are not available, an electrical component will be replaced until a wiring harness is available. This is quick repairs and no charge to customers.
Year 2007
6 Dec 2007 – Voluntary Safety Recall Involving Cam Position Sensor – 1.18 million vehicles
This recall are mostly for 1997-2003 model year Ford F-Super Duty trucks, E-Series vans and Excursions currently registered in the U.S.
Recall/Affected Cars:
It involves older vehicles that are powered by 7.3L diesel engines manufactured by International. Vehicle equipped with 6.0L and 6.4L diesel engines do not experience this issue.

Reason for recall: It is due to a concern over robustness of the cam position (CMP) sensor. There are about 14 allegations of minor accidents or loss of control concerns, but no injuries due to this concern in over 10 years of vehicle service and billions of miles driven.
Year 2005
In January 2005, Ford announced safety recall to address under hood fires related to the speed control switch in 2000 model year Ford F-150s, Ford Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigators, as well as 2001 F-Series Supercrew trucks.
In April 25, 1996, Ford recalls approximately 9 Million cars, trucks, and minivans that may equipped with faulty ignition switch. The recall covers 1988 to 1993 models sold in US and Canada.

Over the years Ford Motor Company recalls quite a number of times even though there are just a very small numbers of vehicles that could cause the problem. This shows Ford is really looking into serious production, concept, engineering and safety flaws to all its vehicles.
