Audi (Audi AG) was founded by August Horch in 1909. It is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen and it is one of the most famous German car makers that built many kind of automobile from crossover SUVs to exotic cars in different kind of style and price ranges. The name Audi derived from August Horch which translated into Latin and becomes Audi. It means, listen! Yes, listen to the beautiful sound from the car, car engine, and muffler. “VROOMMMM!”
You must have wondered why Horch chooses Latin instead of his own family name. In 1909, Horch was forced out of his former company and the German Supreme Court barred him from using his own family name. Until one day, his business partner’s son suggested him to use his own name in Latin instead of Horch, that’s where the “Audi” come from.
The first Audi car is the Audi Type A 10/22 hp Sport-Phaeton that produced in 1910 in Germany. Later on in 1910, Audi Type B 10/28PS was introduced and until today we are able to see a lot of cool Audi cars on the road like the Audi R8, Audi A4, and the Audi Quattro.
