  • BMW MINI Cooper vs. Classic Mini Cooper

New MINI Cooper vs Old Mini Cooper
Whenever I drive my classic Mini Cooper out, people will look at my car. No doubt it is an attractive car due to the iconic look and shining metallic paint. Sometimes, you will hear kids screaming “Look! That’s Mr. Bean’s car!” In fact, I am not Mr. Bean.

New MINI Cooper vs Old Mini Cooper
As a Mini lover, I own both the BMW MINI Cooper as well as a 1994 Mini Cooper. Many people do not know that the production of classic Mini Cooper actually last until 2000. People often think that the classic Mini was built around 60s and 70s. To people who do not know about the classic Mini, “They all look the same” For those who are interested to know more about Mini history and special edition models, refer to the Mini Timeline and History.

BMW MINI Cooper vs Classic Mini Cooper
Today, I parked both my BMW MINI Cooper and my classic Mini Cooper together in order to compare them. Obviously, the new Mini Cooper is a lot bigger compared to the old one. The wheelbase is also slightly longer than the classic Mini Cooper. The rest of it? Check out the photos and judge yourself.

  • Morris Mini Cooper MK1

    Morris Mini Cooper
This is a Morris Mini Cooper MK1. It is a rare classic Mini Cooper from Mini MK1 generation as the production is very limited between 1959 and 1968. Furthermore, this is left-hand drive MK1 Morris Mini Cooper from Laos, a Southeast Asian country. The owner of the car didn’t keep it as original as it is. It has been modified. However, other than the front 4 spotlights, chrome side mirror, two front clear-type signal lenses and an air vent on the car hood, the rest are very much original.

    Morris Mini Cooper
Finished in pale yellow and white roof, the car looks gorgeous with 10-inch sport wheels.

    Morris Mini Cooper
Under the hood, the engine is very clean. You don’t see any wiring around. As this is a left-hand drive Mini, the master brake pump and clutch pump are on the other side. Aluminum radiator is used in this car too.

Morris Mini Cooper left hand drive
As this is a Mini living in Asian country, air-conditioning system is a must.

    Morris Mini Cooper
This car is very similar to the Austin Mini Cooper built in between 1961 and 1969. So Mini lovers, how many stars you will give to this Morris Mini Cooper? We say 4.5 out of 5, what do you say then?

  • 1989 Mini Sky

    1989 original Mini Sky
In January 1989, Mini launched one of their limited edition Minis – the Mini Sky. Mini Sky is based on Mini City and the production is only limited to 500 cars. Many of them are not surviving today thus not many people (include Mini fans) know about the existence of Mini Sky. Today, MalaysiaMiniLover is going to re-introduce the Mini Sky. It is a must to bring it back to life because the design is unique and the chances to see them in any Mini Cooper Gathering is close to zero.
    Mini Sky
There is always a question in mind when a Mini lover plan to rebuild their beloved Mini – “What kind of colors should I paint?” Well, the Mini Sky is definitely a great idea for you. The Mini Sky is painted in Diamond White with a Sky blue (some called it pastel blue) roof. The original Mini Sky features grey Crayons fabric seats, black carpets, grey interior, black wheel arches, black side mirror, white wheels, and surprisingly, black bumpers and black front grille.
    Mini Sky
The Mini Sky features “Sky” decals on the body. As this is a limited edition, they are no longer available for sale. The only way to get them is to create a custom decals from any sticker shops.
    Mini Cooper Sky
Just like other Mini in the Mini MK5 generation, the Mini Sky is powered by a 998cc four-cylinder engine.
    mini sky interior
A radio/cassette player was standard in every Mini Sky. In 1989, it costs £4,695 to buy it brand new.
    Mini Sky
The original Mini Sky is nice, however, we found a photo of Mini Sky from Dean’s Minis who actually painted the wheel arches with Sky blue and replaced both the front and rear bumpers to chrome type. Isn’t it look nicer?
    Mini Sky
Will it be nicer if the side mirror also painted in Sky blue? Can we make it even more “Sky” by making two tones “Blue-White” car seats like the 1994 Mini Cooper Monte Carlo in Mini MK6 generation?
