A Beautiful 1999 Mini Cooper 40th Anniversary

Happy New Year! First of all, thank you for supporting MalaysiaMiniLover.com for the past 9 years. In 2017, we are 10th Year Anniversary! It’s been 10 years! While we are saying goodbye to 2016, let’s check out a unique 1999 Mini Cooper 40th Anniversary Special Edition. This is the car we are going to use to welcome the New Year!

Among all the special edition Minis, this is one of the most sought-after models for all Mini collectors. If you read the complete Mini Timeline & History, you will find out that this model is actually the last generation before the Mini were replaced by the BMW MINI.

In 1999, Mini produced only 250 Mini 40th Anniversary for the UK market. It has become very precious in the car market today due to the limited production. The Mini 40th Anniversary is based on a Cooper model, however, it features Gold “Mini 40” bonnet badge, anniversary decal on the body sides, chrome “GB” on boot, color-matched leather seats with contrasting piping, alloy dashboard, chrome-detailed instruments, and a leather facia top, handbrake, and gear knob.

In General, there are four colours available, they are Island Blue (BU5), Mulberry Red (CDM – BLVC1274), Old English White (WT3), and Tahiti Blue Metallic. The one we are having here is Mulberry Red. For other colours, see: 1999 Mini 40 Anniversary, Island Blue Mini 40 LE, Mulberry Red Mini 40

Under the hood, it is powered by a 1275 cc MPi (Multi-Point Injection) engine.

It costs £10,995 for a new one in 1999. The price is definitely a lot higher for a genuine one today. On the same year, we also see the production of Mini Cooper S Touring, Mini Cooper S Sport 5, Mini Cooper S Works, as well as Mini John Cooper. It was an amazing year that marked all the special edition MK7 Mini Coopers.

Unique Red Mini Cooper With Silver Bonnet Stripes

Just like everyone else, we’d love to see a special Mini Cooper. We love to see how an owner design their own car with unique stuffs so that the car looks different from others. Here we spotted a 1978 Red Mini Cooper MKIII with silver bonnet stripes and a custom made roof decal.

Take a look at the car hood, the owner places a new BMW Mini Cooper emblem instead of a classic Austin or Morris Mini emblems. At the back of the car, there is one British flag decal and a GB stickers. It makes the Mini more “Mini” by adding all these British related decals.

Both front and rear bumpers of the car looks new and shining. Front grill, signal lamp, front lamp, rear lamp and many other parts on this car looks very new too. Notice the Union Jack UK flag side mirror is not the normal type we often see on other Mini cars.

Get into the car, one very eye-catching thing is the custom made car seat with Mini Cooper logo on it. Complete in black and red, it makes the car worth every penny. Standard plastic dashboard is chosen on this car. However, the dashboard vinyl has been refurbished from the photo.

1979 Mini Pickup

Here’s a genuine 1979 Mini Pickup. This is a MK4 Mini Pickup. The exterior is almost similar to MK3/MKIII Mini but there are a few parts under the hood were upgraded. The first Mini Pick-up were introduced in 1961 under the production of Austin Seven Pick-up. The car utilized the same floor pan as the Austin Se7en and Morris Minivan but had a flat loading bay and self-contained cabin. The drop-down tailgate at the rear of the load bay is what makes this car a unique one in Mini Timeline & History.

Painted in yellow, the owner of this Mini Pickup tries to keep it as original as possible. A pair of stainless steel side mirror were added to the car to make it look shining.

Original 10-inch wheel with chrome center cap makes the car look like an old-new pickup truck in this era.

Gorgeous front look. Does it look like a normal MK1 Mini if you don’t see the tailgate?

A MINI 95 decal is added to the drop-down tailgate of this car.

Nice classic steering wheel and original Mini seat.

It is nice to see the owner make the interior of a Mini as simple as possible. A center speedometer and a few important switches for wipers, headlamps, signals and etc. In fact, three pedals are what you need the most!

Mini Cooper Sport 500
In this article you will find Mini Cooper Sport 500 specification, chassis number, review, technical data, performance details, market price, certificate, photos, and everything you need to know about this limited edition classic Mini Cooper. There are only 500 Mini Cooper Sport 500 ever built and they are the last ever to Sir Alec Issigonis design.

Mini Cooper Sport 500 Specification

The Mini Cooper Sport 500 was released in 2000 as MK7 generation. It was after 41 remarkable years and 5,387,862 classic Mini produced. Therefore, Rover decided to end the classic Mini with a Special Edition called Mini Cooper Sport 500. It was the last 500 of Mini ever built and they were also the most sought after Mini models.

Mini Cooper Sport 500 uses a 1,275 cc engine producing 62 hp. Paired with a 4-speed manual powertrain, it is capable to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 11.8 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 12.6 seconds. The specification also states that it is capable to reach quarter mile from 0 in 18.4 seconds. Check out other specification of the Mini Cooper Sport 500 so that you can differentiate it from the 2000 Mini Cooper Sport (Non 500):

1. They were ONLY made in the sports pack version with Platinum Silver roofs and bonnet stripe.

2. On the glove box compartment, there is a dash plaque states “THIS MINI IS ONE OF THE LAST 500 BUILT TO THE ORIGINAL SIR ALEC ISSIGONIS DESIGN”.

3. The Cooper Sport 500 came in 4 colours and the unit made are:
- Tahiti Blue (JRJ – BLVC965) – 128 cars
- Anthracite (LQW – BLVC1266) – 108 cars
- Solar Red (CMU – BLVC1278) – 110 cars
- British Racing Green (HAF – BLVC617) – 154 cars
4. Owners who purchased the Cooper Sport 500 in 2000 received a gift bag full of many Mini accessories, for example, a Mini Cup, Mini T-shirts, and Mini fleece.

5. It also come with a certificate that states the car is a genuine 2000 Mini Cooper Sport 500. Most important, the certificate is signed by John Cooper and Kevin Howe (Ex-MG Rover CEO).

6. The rest are very standard like chrome bumpers and grille. As for the interior, it features black and silver leather and an alloy gear knob. Notice there is also a high level brake light in the rear window.

7. The exterior features four front spotlights, 13-inch sports pack wheel.

Mini Cooper Sport 500 Review

The Cooper Sport 500 has as much fun as driving other classic Mini Cooper. With 34 liter (9 U.S. gallon) of fuel capacity, you can travel at least 500 km (310 miles) then only need to fill up your tank again. The factory-claimed top speed is only 148 km/h (92 mph) but we are managed to hit 175 km/h (108.74 mph) during a test in Manchester. The feeling of driving a Mini Cooper Sport 500? Superb, Excellent, Fantastic, and Marvellous (See also 2000 Mini Classic Seven). The Mini Cooper Sport 500 costs £10,995 when it was brand new in 2000. In 2016, after 16 years, the expected price for a genuine Mini Cooper Sport 500 is at least £25,000 (USD $35,600). With that amount of money, you can buy a brand new Audi A3, BMW 2-Series, Chevrolet Impala, Chrysler 200, Ford Mustang, Mercedes-Benz CLA-class and many more.

Classic Mini Cooper Floods EcoWorld (Photo)

There are 9 Mini Cooper wearing makeup to allow visitors to take photos. Besides, there are also a few new and classic Mini Coopers from Northen Mini Owner’s Club to join the opening ceremony on January 24th, 2016.

Although there are about 20 cars on display, you can see every generation from Mini MK1 to Mini MK7.

Minis are all look-a-like, however, you can check out the Mini Timeline & History to differentiate each model and the manufactured year.
