    Rover Mini Mayfair
Coffee, tea, or Mini? The meal we are putting on the table today is a 1998 Rover Mini Mayfair running with automatic transmission. This is one of the most standard Mini models in the Mini MK7 generation compared to 1998 Mini Paul Smith LE, 1999 Mini 40th Anniversary, 2000 Mini Classic Seven, and 2000 Mini Cooper Sport. This Mini Mayfair is painted in light blue. A view from the front, there is not much of modification done to the car. The owner selected twin filament front side indicator lamp with a clear plain plastic lens glass. This type of front indicator lamp comes with chrome trim rim socket so that it looks shinier compared to the original orange glass.

Take a look at the wheel arches, it is painted in light blue to match the body color. What do you think? Do you think it should be painted with sky blue or electric blue? Or it is the best to be like this?

We guarantee you NEVER see these Minis before

The side mirror is not originally made for the Mini but somehow it looks like the Torpedo type. A view from the back, the owner selected Aston look petrol cap for her car. Yes, “her”. The Mayfair emblem is still remaining on the car boot.

As for the wheels, this light blue Mini Mayfair is running on standard 5×12 Minilite painted in white. Will it look like pimped out cars if we soup it up with a set of Revolution 6×12 wheel? Or 6×13 Sportspack wheel?

Interior wise, it comes with standard beige leather seat. As this is a MK7 for the Japanese market, this Mini Mayfair comes with air-conditioning. Notice there is a SRS airbag fitted to the steering wheel too.

Today we have found another interesting classic Mini known as the Mini Shorty. Look at the photo of this car, isn’t it outstanding, eye-catching, and weird? It is shorter than the ordinary short nose Mini and without any doors. However, there is an original “bean locker” on the driver’s side. To get into the car, driver and passenger have to jump in.

  • Why self service car wash is better?

    Self service car wash
It was my first time traveling a few thousand miles to Melbourne from the United States. I stayed at a friend’s house in Melbourne and on one early morning, I was thinking to help my friend wash her car. So I reversed her car out from the garage, pull the water pipe out and start to spray the water on her car. Five minutes later, she ran out immediately from the house and closed the water tab. She told me that wash a car in that way is illegal in her housing area. Citizens are not allowed to waste water like that especially wash your own car in front of your house. I was like “Huh? WTF?”

This is really one great experience on me, I’ve never know that we are not allow to use water to wash car in certain areas in Melbourne because I did it in many places just like that. So I was asking my friend how the car owners wash their car. She gets her self prepared and brought me to a self-service car wash center. Okay, now I know how they usually wash their car.

We drove the car into an empty bay and centering the car nicely so that we have got enough spaces to walk around the car. The cost to self wash the car is $5 per time. We made the payment and started to pre-soak the car when the timer starts ticking. At the same time, we took off the dirty carpets and wash it with the spray wand. The spray wand is very light and it is really fun to wash a car in that way.

The next thing we did was foam brush using, and then rinse the car by turning the dial on. Then, we put the floor mats back to the car and drive it out from the wash bay. There is an alternative to wax the car for another $5 but we did not go for it. It looks like a tiring job. The last thing we did was vacuum job, there is a place prepared with a huge vacuum device for you. With one “ON” button, it sucks every trash or dust from your car interior.

It was a fun day to experience self service car wash. Personally I think it is a better way because you get to know your car more and it is cleaner because you love your car more than others do. Besides, it is much cheaper as I found most of the car wash services in Australia charge $20-$40 per wash. Other than that, you stand a chance to see many hot car wash girls if you go to the right place. PS: The girls in the photos is not my friend, she is just a gorgeous girl who enjoys a self-service car wash.

  • Matte black Mini Cooper with scissor doors

    Matte black Mini car
We are definitely not kidding, this is a classic Mini Cooper that has a pair of scissor doors just like what the Lamborghini Murciélago has. It looks like a new version of a Transformer car that can anytime transform to a small robot. Besides scissor doors, the car also has some distinguishing feature such as the hydraulic car boot, blue LED lights served as the illumination for the car door when it is opened up at night, rounded roof, and customized rear lights.

Matte black Mini with scissor doors
Painted in matte black, the car looks hot and cool with MK1 grille and a set of 13-inch deep dish wheels. The owner pick flat glass type signals lights instead of the traditional gentle slope orange signal light. Both the rear windscreens are sealed and we noticed there is a huge sub-woofer fitted in the trunk. It must be an eye-catching car when if it attend any car show. However, we were just wondering where is the chrome bumper for this car? As a Mini lover, how much you will rate this car out of 10 point?
